Can I put my tan lotion on before leaving to go to the tanning salon and then tan?

Probably sounds dumb, but they never give me anough time when I go to the salon to get my lotion on. The controls used to be on the bed so I could pause it, but now there are none on the bed and it always starts before I get my lotion on. Would it work just as well to put it on at home and let it dry before dressing, and then head to the salon, or does the lotion need to be wet when you get into the bed?

Can I put my tan lotion on before leaving to go to the tanning salon and then tan?
I would recommend asking the tanning salon employee to give you a couple of extra minutes; they should be able to do that for you.

Otherwise, if you would rather put your lotion on at home, it should be okay as long as you go straight to the salon. I would also recommend reapplying to the places that get rubbed by your clothes when you arrive at the salon.

By the way, tanning lotion does not cause cancer, but excessive tanning does, so don't go every day. Get a nice base color and be sure to moisturize and take care of your skin. Wrinkly orange skin is just not in!
Reply:Yes
Reply:It causes skin cancer!

Its really bad for you're skin.. I'd say just go into the bed and tan.
Reply:yea sure.. that can probaly mean more coverage
Reply:as long as it is right before you go i think youre okay. if i were you though id ask them to wait a minute or two to turn it on if there's no line waiting or get them to add a minute or two to my time and just leave the bed closed while i finish applying. you may want to go ahead and put your eyewear on though
Reply:It is actually best to put the lotion on immediately before tanning. (most of the bottles say that) What you should do is put regular lotion on very liberally an hour or so before you are going tanning. Then right before you leave your house put the tanning lotion on. When you arrive at the salon quickly put more on the places that you want to be darker. For me it'd be my face, chest and arms. The regular lotion will stop your skin from absorbing the tanning lotion so quickly so that it remains on the surface of your skin while you travel there. The more hydrated your skin is the quicker your skin will tan. So make sure you are lotioning it often. Glob it on before you go to bed at night that way you might not even need to use the tanning lotion!

What tanning lotions speed up the tanning process when on sun bed ????

Nothing really "speeds up the tan", but being well hydrated and mosturized sure increases the life of the tan. I have been tanning for 5 months now...I know!!!

What tanning lotions speed up the tanning process when on sun bed ????
I just use a tanning oil with a factor 8. Bought from tescos and its called bannna bronzing oil works great.
Reply:You need to use a Tan Excelerator nothing with SPF. I wouldn't recommened only because of the long term effects of skin cancer.
Reply:Why would anyone in their right mind want to fake bake or tan regularly? you'll just look like a leather bag when you're 40.

Skin discoloration from tanning?

When I get a tan, my face ends up discolored in certian areas. Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Skin discoloration from tanning?
If you have "blotches" that don't tan or tan unevenly it can be caused by a skin fungus that is ordinarily invisible. If this is the case try using Head-and-Shoulders shampoo as a body wash when you shower.
Reply:Use lots of sun screen--or don't get a tan--your body may be telling you something....See a demotologist--a skin specialist---they might be able to give you more tips...if your skin is sensitive to sunlight or artificial light--it is best to avoid exposing it to the sun in this way--it could lead to cancer...
Reply:You need to exfoliate well when tanning. It is due to all the dead skin cells.
Reply:Try using a light tanner on the face like Malibu hemp or one of the many others it slowly adds tan to the skin. they range from 5 to 10 dollars depending on what you use. Hope it helps.
Reply:It could be from dead skin cells...it could also be from a skin disorder...many people have it and don't know it. Depends on what kind of "discoloration" your talking about. If they are spots that are lighter then the rest of your skin, this is a pigment disorder...my husband and my son have the same thing on their backs. They have a spot that has much less pigment than the rest of their skin. I would first try exfoliating very well and it is best to tan right after a shower...clean skin tans better...just take your shower and make sure to wash your face really well, then tan right after...if that does not help, I would see a dermatologist. Good luck!
Reply:that means you stay under sun for long hours. dont be under sun about 12.00- 15.00 and use sun protection creams with SPF30 or more.

First Time in Tanning Booth?

1. What Should I wear?

2. How long should I go for?

3. When should I go back?

4. When does the tan show?

First Time in Tanning Booth?
You can wear anything you want. I suggest you cover your nipples tho, they can burn easily.

Just a few minutes to begin.

A week.

Within a dfew days, depending upon your skin tone.
Reply:Nothing, except a good bronzing lotion.

5-7 minutes

As soon as your comfortable if you don't burn. The tanning bed ladies will give you a schedule to follow. They are really good with this stuff!

In a few days depending on your skin type, If you tan easily in the sun then the tan will start to show up quicker.
Reply:1. Comfortable clothes ( easy to take on %26amp; off )

2. Depends on your skin color now. I would say probably 5 minutes or so. Ask the person at the tanning salon this is there job %26amp; thats what they are good at. They can tell you exactly how long you should go %26amp; what kind of lotion to use.

3. You should go back in 1-2 days.

4. No your tan probably wont show up the 1st day. It will start to show after 3-5 days.

I have tanned for 4 years. I hope this helps! Good Luck :)
Reply:--wear nothing, so you wont get tan lines. dont forget eye protection and tanning lotion (it helps your tan last longer)

--go on the lowest bed for 7-10 mins depending on your skin

--wait a week and once your skin gets used to it you can go every 3 days..

--in like a hour... dont take a shower right after your tan because your still tanning even though your out of the tanning bed, the lotion is still working and if you trake a shower right away you will wash the lotion away.

How can i not age from tanning?

I've been getting a nice undisgusting tan from a salon near me. (I go once or twice a week) I bought bronzer and constantly use cocoa butter before and after to keep my skin good but recently I noticed my skin getting weird.. I guess sort of wrinkled, I can't really explain it. What is good lotion to tan with, and apply afterwards to prevent aging?

How can i not age from tanning?
tanning beds are just as bad for you as the sun

the only way to not have effects is to use a chemical tan or a spray tan
Reply:I did not relise tanning ages people. Natural methods only. less likely to age you.
Reply:stop tanning it is not good for you and that wrinkling is probably skin damage i would much rather be pasty white then have an ugly tan that is killing my skin. I think you need to stop going for a while and see if it gets better. keep using the lotion.
Reply:Fake Tan is the only safe Tan and it wont age you
Reply:Of course, the best thing to do would be to tan less, but I think if you wanted to tan less or switch to a fake tanner you wouldn't be asking the question. Spray tans just don't look real. If you're going to risk tanning, you need to use a good moisturizer afterwards. Look for a lotion that has hyaluronic acid in it, it will help renew your skin.

I wrote a blog about moisturizers if you want to check it out.

Does anyone know where to get 'tanning tablets' from?

I used to see them advertised quite a lot but I think they may have been withdrawn for whatever reason. It's a course of tablets you could take before your holiday and they claimed to work from the inside. I've tried all the fake tans etc. and I just cannot get a natural tan from any of them and wondered if these worked any better.

You don't need to go all out and buy tanning tablets.

Go to your nearest health store and buy BETA CAROTENE tablets.

Take these for the few weeks preceeding your holiday and while on holiday.

They help to bring the skins natural brown pigment (melanin) to the surface of the skin therefore you will tan quicker.

Reply:I AGREE... DOVE WORKS (NOT THAT I USE IT) BUT MANY OF MY LIGHTER SKINNED FRIENDS SAY IT WORKS GREAT AND THE RESULTS ARE AWESOME
Reply:Hands down Bare Escentuals has the best tanning lotion. It looks like chocolate mousse when it comes out, so you can easily see where to apply. The color is very natural, no orange!:) They sell it on QVC %26amp; maybe Ulta 3.
Reply:It is important you understand the rays from the sun: UVA and UVB.... UVA is the one that destroys your elasticin and collagen (the same ones that when we grow older they start the diminish the production) and this is what makes the 90% of aging signs and the tanning slons have these rays. Also the UVB is the ray that burns you and contributes to skin cancer. What you need are products that help you get protected form both rays and always try to avoid the SPF over 30 because these will cause your skin to get irritated. I use these great products that help me get a nice tan without exposing myself to the sun and I also dont tan easy ... it is called made in the shade and they also have a tan enhancer that makes your tan last longer....you could find them in this site, at the left margin look for BefoRE Sun and you will find them ....http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com under shop online the best part is that they have ingredients for anti aging.... amazingly wonderful...you are protecting your skin and at the same time you are turning age back....and the hair protectn is just divine because it also works like a detangler..... and you could also use the "chap stick" they have to protect and hydrate your lips ....... But once again the important thing to do is remember to protect yourself before exposing your skin to the sun, the sun is the #1 worse thing for the skins health and #2 will be using products formulatted with mineral oil, it would be like rubbing car oil on your skin and exposing yourself to the sun.... also avoid using products formulatted with animal products.... these come from rendering plants and what they do is pick all dead animals from road, forest, meatmarkets, etc., and they put them in a huge pot and squash everything inside, boil it and the oil that comes to the top is what other companies use to formulate their "beauty" products... gross i know.....this is why i use arbonne products they are botanically based and you could really see the results you want.... check this fox news documentary also..... http://easylink.playstream.com/ydc/arbon...
Reply:L'oreal Sublime Lotion (not gel) is the best. It very silky and gives you instant color with a bit of shimmer and looks very natural. It comes in two different shades to match your skin color. I have been using it for months and am always getting compliments on my tan- even my dermatologist started lecturing me about being in the sun before I told him it was fake! Good luck!
Reply:Banana Boat!! It's gives great color--not orangy and doesn't streak. They make it in Light Medium and Dark shades so if you're fair complected, use Light. Make sure you shave and exfoliate before using for extra long results. Happy Tanning!

Does anyone know how to avoid tanning in sunlight?

Please don't say, "use high level sunscreen", b/c while that may work for some people, it's never worked for me. I keep getting tans and not returning to my normal color. IE, I went a cruise in DECEMBER, and I STILL have tan lines!! And now I'm moving to LA, so it's a concern.... Any serious advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to avoid tanning in sunlight?
unfortunately you can't avoid tanning, it's in your genes - the skin must protect itself from excessive exposure to sunlight. But you can help reduce the tanning to the minimum.

* as stupid as this advice sounds - it 100% will help - don't stay in the sunlight very much !

* don't wear dark coloured clothes - black and dark colours attract the sunlight, while white and similar colours reject it. It's important because you get tanned while you are dressed too - it's been scientifically proved. Besides, natural fabrics stop the sunlight several times more than sintetic ones - so i'd suggest wearing as many white cotton clothes as you can.

* if you can't avoid tanning, you can get rid of the tan regularly. Use scrub once a week - it's double useful - it will lighten your skin and make it softer too !

* besides, i don't see why you make such a problem of it - most people look younger, fresher and happier when they are tanned. I bet you don't make an exception !

Good luck anyway, i hope this helps at least a little !

Taning (not fake tanning)?
You have to be careful if you do this- especially if you are fair-skinned, but when I want to tan fast, I put baby oil on and lay out for an hour or so....

If you still want to lay out after an hour, I recommend that you put on even a low sunscreen just so that you dont turn a yucky red color, and get sunburned...

What's the scoop on airbrush tanning?

Has anyone ever had an airbrush tan before? I heard negative things about the Mystic tan, but nothing about the airbrush method. I have seen it done on television and it looked outstanding.

What's the scoop on airbrush tanning?
Airbrush tanning is a great way to get the look of a tan without the orange tint from self tanning, and it is always streak-free. It is also a better alternative than tanning beds or booths because it doesn't harm your skin in any way. The only down side to airbrush tanning is that it gets extremely expensive, extremely quickly, as you usually need to have it reapplied once a week, and this can cost upwards of $40.
Reply:The airbrush tan is really good! There's no streaking or anything, just a fresh, even tan. Just be careful who you go to. Make sure it is someone with a good reputation. Some places make you look orange... I suggest Joh Bailey's.

The penis tans very well (although you can get some interesting camouflage patterns because of the wrinkles). The scrotum, however, doesn't seem to tan very much. I don't know why that is. Perhaps it's because the skin is very thin there, but I don't know.
Reply:whatttt????
Reply:Yes they will.
Reply:I would assume so, but make sure you put on lots of tanning lotion, I would hate for anybody to get sunburned there!!
Reply:not if he lays on his stomach
Reply:they can tan, I mean it is skin. He better be careful or he'll burn! hehe.
Reply:They will tan hun! Unless of course you put sunblock on them!!! Good luck and I hope they don't burn! Go easy on em the first few days!!
Reply:yes they will
Reply:It is certainly possible to get sunburned in the groin area, especially if you do not use sunblock while nude in strong sunshine
Reply:My hubby's tan nicely. Be careful of burning.
Reply:They will tan but that is a very sesitive area that is not used to seeing the sun so it can burn easily especially if you shave and dont have much hair as protection. Always wear a sunblock. :)

Happy Tanning!
Reply:I really don't know. I have always noticed that a man's johnson and friends are always darker than the rest of his body. Why is that.
Reply:EVERYTHING gets tanned
Reply:lmao!!!!!
Reply:They will tan, but you better do it a little at a time, so as not to burn them up. lol
Reply:I believe so but why don't you try and see, than tell us what really happens. Don't forget to put SPF 50 on it ;)
Reply:They'll tan, just wear tanning lotion. good luck!

Ive been indoor tanning since Oct and I need that extra push. What lotion is the best to get a dark brown?

I have a great color but it's not that dark deep brown that screams "I tan!" lol I haven't tried tingle lotions. Im a little hesitant from the stories.

Reply:use that cocoa butter its the best my sister say even though were realated it make her look good it smells good in give her a soft brown color trust me youll look good please vote for best answer
Reply:sex pot or tingle lotion .. it may burn you at first but keep using it you will darken and it will help you acheve a longer tan too...
Reply:ROCKSTAR! It's expensive, but try it.
Reply:I'm not sure what it's called but it's in an orange bottle and it's got hemp in it. You can buy it at Sally's Beauty Shop.
Reply:i just got done reading an article about tanning and it said that people who tan in their 20's already have aging spots from it but they dont pop out till theyre older.
Reply:Ummmmm.... I`m not sure but I got this one a long time ago that works really god and smells good too. Sorry I forgot the name. But I don`t need to tan anymore.
Reply:I've tanned over the years and for the last year I've used Australian Gold, Golden Tingling Glaze. It works great! Yea it gets a bit warm while you're tanning but not too bad. And I'm naturally fair skinned so it can't be that bad. It can be expensive but look on this site for discounts: www.awesometanninglotions.com. Hope this helps!

If i go tanning could i still have healthy skin?

i want a tan.

sooo..

how could i make my skin healthy too.no dry skin or anything and would wrinkle skin cream help too?

If i go tanning could i still have healthy skin?
just use lots of moisturizer before and after. :)

OR, just use gradual tanning aids like the "spray-on" tanners. I've used several. The two I like best are by Lancome and Neutrogena. ...Two different price categories, but they both work about the same IMO, and look the most natural. I tried Banana Boat and it turned my skin very orange.
Reply:it wont damage it now,

just later on in life.

Reply:No non-natural tanning actually fries and burns your skin so if u want a tan I would go to a beach!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:sorry, but there's nothing you can do to make tanned skin as healthy as non-tanned skin. cream would help, but you're better off not getting a tan at all. it will come back to haunt you when you're older.

try a self tanner that's not too orangy.

i don't use it, but some of my friends do and they say neutragena foam self tanner is good.
Reply:nope you will fry your skin and maybe even get skin cancer....and lotions and creams can't even help that
Reply:A tan is a sign of skin damage. So no, if it is tan it is not healthy. Skin cream will not prevent you from getting skin cancer. And you don't have to wait till you're old to get skin cancer, I have known girls in their early 20's that have gotten skin cancer from tanning. It has become much more common now with the popularity of tanning salons. Skin cancer can kill you. If you feel you must change your natural skin color, then use the fake tans.
