Can I put my tan lotion on before leaving to go to the tanning salon and then tan?

Probably sounds dumb, but they never give me anough time when I go to the salon to get my lotion on. The controls used to be on the bed so I could pause it, but now there are none on the bed and it always starts before I get my lotion on. Would it work just as well to put it on at home and let it dry before dressing, and then head to the salon, or does the lotion need to be wet when you get into the bed?

I would recommend asking the tanning salon employee to give you a couple of extra minutes; they should be able to do that for you.

Otherwise, if you would rather put your lotion on at home, it should be okay as long as you go straight to the salon. I would also recommend reapplying to the places that get rubbed by your clothes when you arrive at the salon.

By the way, tanning lotion does not cause cancer, but excessive tanning does, so don't go every day. Get a nice base color and be sure to moisturize and take care of your skin. Wrinkly orange skin is just not in!

Its really bad for you're skin.. I'd say just go into the bed and tan.
Reply:yea sure.. that can probaly mean more coverage
Reply:as long as it is right before you go i think youre okay. if i were you though id ask them to wait a minute or two to turn it on if there's no line waiting or get them to add a minute or two to my time and just leave the bed closed while i finish applying. you may want to go ahead and put your eyewear on though
Reply:It is actually best to put the lotion on immediately before tanning. (most of the bottles say that) What you should do is put regular lotion on very liberally an hour or so before you are going tanning. Then right before you leave your house put the tanning lotion on. When you arrive at the salon quickly put more on the places that you want to be darker. For me it'd be my face, chest and arms. The regular lotion will stop your skin from absorbing the tanning lotion so quickly so that it remains on the surface of your skin while you travel there. The more hydrated your skin is the quicker your skin will tan. So make sure you are lotioning it often. Glob it on before you go to bed at night that way you might not even need to use the tanning lotion!
