I tan in the tanning bed and plan on stopping after a few weeks? is this really bad for me?

A family friend who only went tanning for a week was just diagnosed with life-threatening cancer caused from the bed. She has to go through extensive chemotherapy and treatments, and she still has a short life expactancy. I went tanning for a week or so before I knew about her, but I haven't been since. It's a waste of money - not only does it kill you and it horrible for your skin later on in life [wrinkles], your tan doesn't stay for that long.

Yes as it puts you at great risk for skin cancer. Skin cancer doesn't care if you are 15 or 95.

Reply:Tanning beds are pretty bad for you but I do it if I'm going somewhere sunny because if I already have a tan I'm less likely to burn. They definitely give you wrinkles though, which is the least dangerous of what they can cause.
Reply:Well yes and no. Yes depends on how many times you tan. If you are young by tanning it will make you look really old fast. When you get like 40 you will be saggy. and No because you might need it.
Reply:You've heard how you can get skin cancer if you expose yourself too much to the sun? you may look good for a bit but you will wrinkle earlier, you can get ugly spots on your face, melanomas. Well bed tanning is worse. Avoid it like the plague. I've heard you can be sprayed with something that makes you look like you have a tan. You ought to find out about that.
