Will tanning in a tanning bed affect my breastfeeding?

I am paranoid that the rays will somehow affect my milk supply... I know it sounds crazy, perhaps I am just too paranoid?!

Will tanning in a tanning bed affect my breastfeeding?
Probably won't effect your breast milk, but why would you want to subject yourself to skin cancer when you have a small child?

Whatever, I just don't "get" women who pay for the opportunity to look great and get skin cancer.

This link should answer all your questions.
Reply:The paranoia of affecting the milk supply is one thing... but you should be more paranoid of getting skin cancer.
Reply:It doesn't affect your breastmilk. Don't worry about it. I even tanned when I was pregnant. I know, seems ridiculous. It just made me feel a little sexier when I was pregnant. I don't tan any more because I am worried about skin cancer and don't have the funds. But I definitely loved it when I used to tan. People don't understand, it is kind of addicting. Once you get a nice tan, you feel like you look awful when your tan fades.Wow... I'm having a tanning withdrawl just thinking about it. Seriously, for me it is that addicting. Thank goodness I don't have time anymore or someone to watch my kids, because I would probably go right now.
Reply:i dont think it would, just make sure you wash your breast before you breastfeed again if you use tanning lotion
Reply:My 40 year old brother, who never tanned a day in his life, just got diagnosed with Melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer). Might I suggest self tanner or bronzers? He has eight kids and losing their Dad would be devastating. I'm sure your child would feel the same way too. Not to scare you, but really think if your vanity is worth risking your life, honey. (But good for you for breastfeeding-excellent choice!)
